Planning a NON-PeopleSoft-related Request#

JST also allows for using Axway for non-PeopleSoft related file transfers. This can be a helpful tool so that you do not need to allow for outside SFTP/SCP access to your server.

You can request that we provide you with an Axway account & login credentials. Anyone you share those credentials with will be able to use either the provided Web tool to use as a temporarily location to house files for later transfer, or use the SCP or SFTP (not SSH) protocol to connect to Axway to pull or push files. This account should be treated as a pass-through for transferring files.

Individual files must be under 25 Mb and each Axway account is limited to 2 GB. This service is provided for transient file movement and not for permanent storage. If you have a business need for files to be stored for more than 7 days or need additional storage, please open a ticket by emailing jst-help@umn.edu to create a TDX ticket.

You can use the Axway account username & password JST provides to transfer files via the Axway WebGUI or via the SFTP/SCP protocols. Below are the URLs for connecting to the Web Client via a web browser, or to login via SFTP/SCP:

Below is a screenshot of what the Axway Web Client looks like.

Intake

Google Group for Emails: filetransferandbatch@umn.edu#

The OIT-JST team will request from you an email address for your group that we can add to the filetransferandbatch@umn.edu Google Group. We can add individuals to the group, but prefer you supply us with a group email so that staff rotation over time doesn't require frequent alterations to this google group.

OIT-JST uses this group to send out emails providing information on activity that may impact the normal functioning of Axway. For example, OIT-JST applies updates & patches to the Axway system each quarter. You would be notified of this activity via an email from filetransferandbatch@umn.edu.

OIT-JST also uses this email group to inform customers about issues related to AutoSys (batch scheduling tool) and VPSX (PeopleSoft enterprise printing software) which your team can safely ignore for your non-PeopleSoft related Axway accounts.

Regular Maintenance Window#

Production (PRD)#

OIT-JST maintains a regular maintenance window each Sunday from 6am until noon. During this window each week, OIT-JST can do things like restart Axway servers, apply patches, make configuration changes.

Your team should expect that Axway will be unavailable during this regular maintenance window and should plan activities accordingly. If our team ever needs to expand the maintenance window - an email to the filetransferandbatch@umn.edu group will be sent.

Test (TST)#

There is no regular maintenance window for the TST Axway environment. Maintenance can happen at any time during business hours. However, OIT-JST will notify you of any outages to TST via an email from filetransferandbatch@umn.edu

Data Security Classification#

As part of the creation of a new Axway account, please classify the data that will be moving in and out of your account using one of the three classification types explained in this article: https://policy.umn.edu/it/dataclassification. There is a link in that article's appendix called Data Security Classifications by Type which provides examples. of each classification type to help you make your determination.

OIT-JST will store your response to this question in your Axway account. At this time, we are gathering this information to be able to answer questions from auditors. No specific actions are required based on your response to this question.

Axway TST vs Axway PRD#

Our Axway setup at the U includes a testing environment referred to as TST. OIT-JST will set up your Axway account here first. Once testing has gone well, the account can be requested to migrate up to the production environment, referred to as PRD.

Axway TST is where OIT-JST will apply patches & upgrades first to provide a testing window before applying those same changes to Axway PRD.
